Peninsula Raiders 6.6.42 lost to Bayside Saints 8.9.57

Best: C Fewster, M Leonard, P Daniel, A Ackehurst, D Hayes, R Hopkins
The Legends got off to a good start in beautiful sunny conditions, with a breeze to the changerooms end. Rusty Hopkins was a great target up forward and the midfield brigade of Lenny, Rossco and Big Col Fewster pumped it in for Rusty to get on the end of some searching leads. As the weather closed in, so did Bayside and they played smart in close football to take the lead and despite being in the game late, the Raiders couldn’t bridge the gap. Special mentions to Pete Daniel on the half back flank, aside from his obvious hearing difficulties, and also Dicko who celebrated Richmond’s victory the night before very hard. Massive effort to back up Dicko! Special mention to one of the bravest acts on a footy field ever seen, and he didn’t even know it…..Captain Ash backed back into a pack not knowing that teammate and knees expert, Big Col Fewster, was bearing down. It could’ve been very ugly. Brave or silly on behalf of the Captain? We will give him the benefit of the doubt! Special special mention to Dave Taylor who unfortunately copped an injury in his first game and also Lenny would like to thank Stalesy & Shags for helping out from the Masters.
Cheers Slugga
