In today’s vernacular, the Legends got off to a flyer in the return bout with Craigieburn and were never really threatened on the scoreboard. The game seemed closer though than the scoreboard indicated but our Legends continually provided opportunities for the forwards and some of the ball movement through the centre and into the forward 50 was spectacular. Rugby Ross in the centre was and he relished a run around the ground and laying some of his trademark tackles. The addition of Big Col also added some experience…..and knees…..and voice to the Legends. Seriously, has Big Col got the loudest voice at the Raiders? Special mentions to Dazza who did very well down back and also the old stagers in Ash, Lenny, Rossco & Dicko. Special special mention to Rusty who was able to stop listening to the little man on his shoulders and kick straight for three majors! Last special mention to Big Rich who played his 50th game. As Lenny said in the pre-match, what a great effort from a Pommie who was brought up on rugby to now being a very good aussie rules player. For those that can remember when Big Rich first came down to the club and he refused to play for the first half of the season until he could kick properly, to now when kicking isn’t an issue, well it’s a great story. (Rich – I won’t mention the blind turn followed up by the shank out of bounds on the full yesterday. I’ll look after you. No worries mate!) Great win Legends.
