Milestone Games

04/06/2015

Selections pending, our Round 6 Legends encounter with Brunswick will see two magnificent Raider stalwarts achieve significant game milestones.

Mark Leonard – 150 games
150 games for Lenny is a great achievement from our long time coach, vice president, co-voice of Raider radio, nickname specialist, Pambula organiser and cultural ambassador for end of season trips!  Lenny joined the Raiders around the turn of the century after playing his senior football at Karingal, and is as fit as a mallee bull playing in many State carnivals and playing multiple games in the Pambula pre-season cup.  For those new to the club and wouldn’t be aware due to his mallee bull status, but it is a remarkable achievement for Lenny even to be out on the field.  In 2007, Lenny suffered a massive heart attack in a pre-season game in Pambula and it was basically curtains.  Due to the quick thinking medical expertise of many at the time and a long recuperation process, Lenny recovered from the unrecoverable to continue playing, and enjoying, footy well into his 50s.  Lenny is a very loyal Raider and with singleminded determination on the field, you will not find a better teammate to be beside on the field.  Congratulations Lenny and as you say so eloquently, Go Raiders!!

Ross Sanders – 100 games
Rugby Ross is foremost a rugby specialist, so to reach the milestone of 100 games is a fantastic achievement.  Ross is a quiet and unassuming character, but a character nonetheless.  Just get him started on his favourite topic of yo-yos and you will know what I mean!!  On the field, Ross only knows one way.  Hard.  Real hard.  Tackling is his number one attribute and Raiders all over consider themselves lucky that he is in a Raider jumper and not tackling us, because it would be a frightening experience.  Ross has held done key positions in all three Raider teams, with the majority in the Supers.  A great teammate and great Raider clubman, we congratulate Ross on reaching the 100 game milestone.

Cheers Slugga
