A great night was had last night by 130 past and present Raiders at the Mornington Racing Club to celebrate 20 years of Raider greatness! In one of the most classy of settings the obvious love and attention for the Raiders was on show with a grand display of photographs, various playing jumpers, Rossco’s huge statistical database and much Raider colour adorning the room. Clarky did a great job of a photographic display with every Raider possible represented in a digital history of the club, plus later a big treat with some old video footage from the 1990s and early 2000s.
We congratulate the inaugural fifteen Raiders inducted into the Raider Hall of Fame to celebrate the first 20 years of the club. Ash Ackehurst, Brendan Anderson, Troy Arnott, Vin Brown, Paul Clark, Phil Corn, Kevin Deason, Dixon Hayes, Robert Keillor, Mark Leonard, Bill Rutherford, Andy Sumner, Shane Turner, Ross Twyford and Phil Williams.
After a terrific welcome from the President, Michael Dillon, the celebration of the inductees was highlighted by the fantastic introductions by Gabe Mauerhofer who gave the room a great insight into each inductee. While it was a personal tribute to each inductee, it was also a tribute to the great club that is the Raiders and each inductee explained their love for the club and the mateship formed at the Raiders.
There are many acknowledgements and I apologise if I miss anyone, but nights like these do not happen without a great deal of teamwork. Firstly, Andy Riddle’s mammoth job of ticket sales was enormous and so very well done. Michael Dillon and his Hall of Fame selection committee plus Michael’s own individual work of organising the magnificent venue and numerous other jobs. Ross Twyford and Mark Leonard for the memorabilia and presentation, plus Paul Clark’s great work with the digital display, collation of photos and the table presentations. Thanks to Bianca Moresco for organising the magnificent Raider cake. Lastly, to those who made financial donations to ensure the night could happen. The Raiders thank you all.
