Barx’s Blurb. Rd 6, 2019. Reserves Match Report.

17/06/2019

The Reserves we’re back at the Raiderdome for Rnd 6 against Frankston, which was an important game for our season to stay on track

We had some great inclusions for the game. Incey was back from America, Coaks having run in the twos and returning to the team Juice,Bramma &  Tommy Walker for his first game of the year

We started the game exceptionally well having a dominant first quarter to lead by 5 goals at quarter time, this continued into the second quarter with everybody playing team footy with first option ball use and great talk across the ground.

At the main break we spoke about staying disciplined, playing our game style and controlling the game tempo, Frankston were starting to throw their weight around thru frustration and I urged the boys not to get sucked in and stay focused on the task at hand.

The second half again saw our boys dominate the game across the ground completely outclassing Frankston eventually winning by 57 points.

Even though we had some great inclusions which were focal points of the day with Incey dominating the Ruck and Coaks kicking a great 6 goal haul, it was great to see the entire teams effort to win the game comfortably and play a strong 4 quarters off footy, great effort from the backline group and bench rotations were well disciplined and everybody working hard for each other, really positive signs.

Getting on the training track is crucial for everybody, as selection will get tighter as our season gets closer to the business end, the Reserves group are now a genuine contender for finals, we have a lot of work ahead of us to make finals a reality, however continuing to achieve results and having a belief amongst the boys will make the group ready for any challenge
