Supers vs Bayside

After great performance in round 2 it was up to Highett to take on Bayside after they recorded a 15 goal win over Waverley the week before, so their confidence would have been sky high.

Although we were coming off a 10 goal win over Dingley 2 weeks ago , with no real training Anzac Day and everyone a bit flat at training this week , we were looking to make a statement early on. Lofty got us off to a great start with the first goal and really set the tone for the afternoon .

The start of each quarter seemed to be a real arm wrestle with lots of stoppages and contests on the small highett ground. Bayside never gave up and hung around. Billy and Rocky and Braydo really set the tone at the coalface and the stoppages , with Incey and juice giving us first use.

I thought our backline was fantastic and have been the last 2 weeks, lead by Drewy, newcomer Mick Sier set the tone Early with a big hit, and we also welcomed in Holmesy and Kenny down there for their first games this season, jordos voice and direction is invaluable and Jake is going from strength to Strength. Wrighty and Tommy W keeping the small forwards locked down.

Keegs was great again making the most of his opportunities with 3 goals. Budge was a tower of strength almost single handed across half forward and worked tirelessly all day, he was sensational. Sammy slotted a ripper from the boundary to really get us up and about.

Through the middle, the likes of Lofty,  Richo, Woodsy, Rob, Wilks and oohh ahhh Tom Machar, getting on the end of the grunt work from the in and unders and really breaking the lines and the game open.

We led at every change but really nailed Them in that 3 Rd premiership quarter, before a bit of a luckluster final term where we were down to very minimal rotations due to some injuries.

Proud of the way everyone is playing and contributing. Everyone playing their role and enjoying the teams results. Building a real connection, and still improvement to come!

A very solid win away from home.

Onwards and upwards let’s get to training, some sore Bodies let’s get them right this week, keep working and building into the season and need to show we can get our game going at home !!!
